Chavdar Parashkevov, Violinist

Praised by Strad magazine as “a romantic virtuoso with sparkling and brilliant tone and clarity of gesture,” Bulgarian Violinist, Chavdar Parashkevov has appeared frequently as a soloist with orchestra and in recital throughout Europe and North America. Recent performances include chamber music recitals at the prestigious Round Top Festival in Texas, the Houston Museum of Art concert series, and concerts with the Cypress Creek FACE Foundation. 

Parashkevov has won top prizes in several international violin competitions, including First Prize at the National Competition Svetoslav Obretenov in Provadia, Bulgaria. He also won First Prize and a special Bach prize at the "Young Talents Competition" in Sofia, as well as Second Prize for "The Best Performance of Bulgarian Music" and First Prize for "The Best Performance of Czech and Slovak Music" competitions in Varna. He has released four albums to date, most recently the 2021 recording "Brahms and Shostakovich - Piano Trios." 

Parashkevov holds degrees from the School for the Arts in Varna, Southern Methodist University, and the University of Houston, where he studied with prominent pedagogues including Peter Hristoskov, Veronica Bogaertz, Nelli Shkolnikova, Andzrej Grabiec and Albert Muenzer. Currently, he performs with the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet Orchestras and teaches at the esteemed Round Top Music Festival.
