TWD Presents: Embrace
A collection of love songs from around the world
On Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 7:00 p.m., The Woodlands Diversion invites audiences to Embrace, an evening devoted to the most enduring subject in art: love itself. The performance takes place in the Recital Hall of Building H at Lone Star College Montgomery, a space whose intimacy mirrors the spirit of the music it will contain.
Love songs are among humanity’s oldest artistic artifacts, written not as abstractions, but as confessions. Composers and poets have always turned to love in moments of elation and heartbreak alike, shaping private experiences into public beauty. Embrace traces that lineage, gathering together some of the most cherished love songs ever written, alongside instrumental reflections that speak just as eloquently without words.
The program features soprano Jan Cornelius Le Claire, whose voice brings clarity, warmth, and emotional honesty to music that lives at the intersection of intimacy and universality. She is joined by Ensemble Diversion, a chamber ensemble of violin, viola, cello, and piano, led from the keyboard by Artistic Director Matthew Kent Everett.
What emerges over the course of the evening is not a survey of styles so much as a meditation on a shared human impulse. Whether sung or purely instrumental, these pieces remind us that love - romantic, tender, conflicted, hopeful - has always been a force that artists return to when words alone are not enough. Embrace offers an hour of listening that feels less like a concert and more like an encounter: with memory, with longing, and with the strange familiarity of songs that seem to know us already.
