Michael Woods

Michael Woods is classically trained clarinetist who performs regularly with The Woodlands Symphony Orchestra, The Conroe Symphony Orchestra, The Woodlands Concert Band, and The Texas Medical Center Orchestra. Originally from Northern Virginia, Woods previously was second clarinet in the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Nancia D’Alimonte before moving to Texas in 2021.

When he is not making music, Michael is a senior manager at VMware, a global software company specializing in multi-cloud technology. In this role, he leads the Federal Civilian Project Management Organization (PMO) in delivering enterprise-level IT and consulting engagements. He is known for his passionate leadership, relentless focus on customer service, and ability to delivery results. In 2022, he received the VMware “People Champion” award from VMware’s Senior Vice President, Professional Services, in recognition of his leadership and team-building abilities.

Michael is a member of the International Clarinet Association (ICA) and the Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from The College of William and Mary with a focus in marketing. While at William and Mary, Michael earned a minor in music and studied with Patti Carlson, principal clarinet, Virginia Symphony Orchestra. In 2010, he earned his Master of Business Administration from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. A proud uncle to three nephews and a dog dad to an adorable Yorkie Poo named “Finn,” Michael lives in the Woodlands.
